She represents individuals, companies, Boards of Directors, and Board committees facing a variety of complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal and regulatory enforcement matters, parallel civil litigation, and internal corporate investigations. Mimi has extensive experience litigating in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as in prosecutions and investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and state attorneys general and regulatory agencies. Prior to joining MRP, Mimi served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, where she directed numerous complex fraud investigations involving programs administered by federal agencies. During her tenure, Mimi developed an expertise in violations of the False Claims Act (FCA), the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and other fraud, waste, and abuse protections, by managed care organizations, hospitals, pharmacies, and physicians. Mimi also pursued violations of the FCA in connection with program fraud committed by non-healthcare entities, such as telecommunications providers, grant recipients, and recipients of funds through the CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program.
Before serving as an AUSA, Mimi was a partner at a New York litigation boutique. She also clerked for the Hon. Nina Gershon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She received her law degree from Hofstra University, where she was Articles Editor of the Labor and Employment Law Journal and a Dean’s Scholar, and earned her undergraduate degree from Hunter College.
